FAW MINISTRIES
FRANK ANTHONE WHITE, the host of Back Home Hours at The Church of God in Christ Little Zion in the mid-80's, was always personally sensitive to the need for innovative outreach. His voice reached young people (a subset of whom were “Preachers’ Kids”), up-and-coming musical artists, and a talented pool of singers rooted in the Church. Gradually, the influence of his Thanksgiving musicals elevated a sound that drew listeners and followers closer to their walk with Christ, achieved through White’s insistence on never concluding a concert or “LIVE” recording without personally appealing for attendees to receive salvation. This approach—his evangelistic dialogue—intensified White’s already high demand as a preaching personality throughout the Greater New York Metropolitan area. Clearly, something greater was on the horizon.
FAW Prayer Conference
​Then, in 1990, the unique elements of these conventions, concerts, and back-home hours converged to reach a broader audience. Established with the essential resources of singers, students, musicians, and staff, FAW Ministries, Inc. was a fully incorporated reality. Prominent community pastors began to approach FAW Ministries to help build an evangelistic climate in their neighborhoods. The impact was so significant that by the close of 1994, FAW Ministries had expanded into a multi-faceted entity admired for blending concert music, intercession, altar training, and active crusade evangelism into a winning formula irresistible to the hungry soul. It was now officially FAW Evangelistic Crusade Ministries (commonly known as “FAW”). Inter-faith billboards, radio hosts, and the Gospel press were covering the path of this sophisticated operation, steamrolling across the entire Northeast region and accomplishing the full expression of its primary mission: Intercessory Prayer, Crusade Evangelism, Soul-Winning & Church Growth, Marketplace Ministry, and Music & Education.

From the outset, the popular melody line of White’s “He Won’t Ever Fail,” complemented by his clear, powerful, and effective preaching, compelled hundreds to flood the altar to embrace the gift of salvation. The year 1993 marked a turning point for the ministry with the announcement of its Fourth Music Convention & Workshop under the theme “Rejoice Cushite!” The FAW Music Workshop was renamed the FAW Celebration Convention, and the FAW Workshop Choir was renamed the FAW Celebration Choir. This convention also featured the first Contemporary Composers’ Symposium, which led to the release of “We Sing Praises.” By the late 1990's, “In the Meantime” became another effective combination of song and sermon as White guided the Crusade Ministry into the Year 2000, embracing new and forward-moving technologies.

Even as FAW Ministries continued to modernize its outreach, prayer always remained its central focus. As the late Elizabeth Calhoun (FAW Administrative Assistant) would often remark at the summer prayer clinics, “The higher you go, the further you can see.” The FAW International Prayer Conference, after more than 30 years, continues to flourish, enlisting prayer warriors from across the country who represent a cross-denominational, multicultural intercessory circuit.

Over the years, FAW Ministries has broadened its network to include educational initiatives, leadership conferences, training for lay workers, and specialized seminars that address relevant life goals such as Financial Planning, Health & Wellness, and First-Time Home Buying. To date, the primary goals of FAW Ministries have remained unchanged. Whether a psalmist, an audio engineer, or a financial planner, life’s most worthy destination must be “heaven all the way.” For White, “no task is too unconventional if it means getting serious-minded followers and crusaders for Christ to their destiny.” With all its innovations and achievements, FAW Ministries has revamped the way contemporary crusade ministry is conceived and has literally hand-spun from the ground up a widespread mentality whereby soul-winning is– at any cost – always the order of the day.
